Stay at Baviaanskloof Uitspan and really “Span Uit” amid the spectacular scenery and peace and quiet of the Baviaanskloof, the scenic wonderland of the Eastern Cape.

Uitspan provide Self-Catering and Luxury Camping accommodation facilities. Accommodation is offered in three fully equipped Self-Catering Chalets and a double room with en-suite bathroom.

There are also a number of grassed and/or shaded campsites, some with private ablutions and lapas.

Baviaanskloof Uitspan is located at the western end of the Baviaanskloof, some 45 kilometers from Willowmore, 10 kilometers from the Nuwekloof Pass.

From Patensie it is 160 kilometers through the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, so please allow for about 5 to 6 hours traveling time. Access from Patensie is only for 4×4 or vehicles with high ground clearance.

From the Uniondale -Willowmore side Baviaanskloof Uitspan is accessible to all types of vehicles as well as off road caravans.

Accommodation

Double Room (DR)

This generously sized double bedroom is located behind the thatch roof Lapa.

It is fitted with a bar fridge and kettle and is 10m from the ablutions.

Self-Catering House 1

This secluded chalet is situated in the opening of the Houtkloof Mountain nestled between trees and rocks and can accommodate up to 2 adults and one child under 12 with a fully equipped Kitchen, bathroom and built in braai area.

There is a double bed and a ¾ couch in this chalet.

Self-Catering House 2

This Double Story Chalet can accommodate up to 6 people with 2 separate bedrooms.

The Main bedroom downstairs has a double bed with ensuite bathroom located next to the kitchen dining area.

The upstairs room has 2 single beds as well a bunk bed. There is also a 2nd toilet and hand basin. The spacious deck offers spectacular views over the dam, farm and the mountain range.

Self-Catering House 3

This is a 3-bedroom 2 bathroom Chalet that can accommodate up to 12 people.

There is an open plan lounge and kitchen, with a double sleeper couch.

The main bedroom has a double bed, as well as a bunk bed.

The second bedroom has 2 single beds and a bunk bed.

The third bedroom has 2 single beds.

There is an undercover built in braai on the stoep with plenty of space around the chalet offering a stunning view over the dam, farm and the mountain range, as well as undercover parking.

Self-Catering 4 – Covered Caravans

The Covered caravans are fully equipped for self-catering with 2 double beds per caravan sleeping up to 8 people.

There is a built in braai as well as you own private ablution facilities.

All our campsites have 220V electricity as well as clean drinking water and their own braai’s – please bring your own “toe knyp rooster”.

Braai packs, Ice, “Roosterkoek” and Wood are available for purchase.

Campsite 1 – Houtkloof

This secluded site nestled in the opening of the Houtkloof Mountain above the dam and can accommodate up to 6 people, there is a semi closed Lapa for shade and it has its own ablution facility.

Campsite 2 – Bamboo

This site is situated below to the dam and can accommodate up to 15 people. There is a thatch roof umbrella on the site and it has its own ablution facility.

Campsite 2B

This level site is situated near the dam and can accommodate 4 people, there is however no grass, which makes this ideal for Rooftop Tents or Trailer Tents. There is a communal ablution nearby.

Campsite 3 – Oukraal

This site can accommodate up to 15 people. There is a thatch roof lapa on the site, with own ablution nearby.

Campsite 3B

This level site is under a Pear tree, and can accommodate 4 people, there is however no grass, which makes this ideal for Rooftop Tents or Trailer Tents. There is a communal ablution nearby.

Campsite 3C

This site is situated near the dam, with lovely grass under Thorn Trees and can accommodate up to 4 people, with communal ablutions nearby.

Campsite 4

This site can accommodate a family of up to 5. It is under a pear tree with a lapa and is situated near the communal ablutions.

Campsite 5

This site can accommodate up to 15 people. It is under a pear tree and has a lapa with indoor braai facilities and basin and situated near the common ablutions.

Campsite 5B

This level site is under a Pear tree and can accommodate up to 8 people, there is however no grass, which makes this ideal for Rooftop Tents or Trailer Tents. There is a communal ablution nearby.

Campsite 6 – Peperboom

This site can accommodate up to 10 people. It is located under a pepper tree which provides plenty of shade during the hot days, and is near the common ablutions.

Campsite 7

This site can accommodate 4-6 people. It is behind a stone wall at the foot of the mountain. There is a Lapa on the site with own ablution nearby.

Campsite 8 – Uitkyk

This secluded site offers views across the whole valley and can accommodate a family of 4-6 people. It is at the foot of a mountain and has a lovely lapa with indoor braai facilities and its own ablution.

Campsite 9 – Kleinpoort

This bush camp can accommodate up to 20 people. There is a bathroom with a gas geyser for hot water and a wash up area. It is in an opening of the Kleinpoort Kloof approx. 2.5km away from the Uitspan Farm. Guests can come to the farm to swim and hike.

Activities

Hiking

There are two hiking trails. The beautiful Houtkloof Trail that takes about an hour and a half to walk, with rock pools, magnificent examples of indigenous tree and plant life.

The Koepel Hiking Trail offers the opportunity to investigate interesting rock formations and overhangs and offer beautiful views.

Opportunities abound for bird watching and mountain climbing.

4 x 4 Route

A 4×4 route consisting of a number of circle routes offers lovely views.

For cooling off on hot summer days there is a swimming pool and dam with an awesome Zip Line.

For those interested in seeing the local bird population, there is quite a selection to see on the farm.
