Klipkraal Hiking Trail

Distance and rating:
There is two-day trail: PANORAMA (13km) and KRAAL (11km). Shorter options are available. On the Panorama route there is a link between Letsa and Panorama which makes the route 7km. The shorter option on the Kraal route is 7km with the linking between ThabaNyane and Capricorn. The NokoSingel is 4km and is ideal for an afternoon stroll if hikers arrive early or for guests staying at Kiepersol Cottage, Bokmakierie Hut or Blinkblaar Guest House.
All the routes are day trips that return to the various base camps. The routes can be described as easily.
Description of the environment:
Climate:
Highveld climate with moderate to hot summers and moderate to cold winters. Winter nights can be very cold.
Fauna:
More than 17 mammal species can be seen. They include blesbuck, black wildebeest, Burchells’ zebra, springbok, steenbok, blackbacked jackal, grey rhebuck, common duiker and aardwolf.
Bird Life:
More than 110 confirmed species have been recorded. A bird checklist is available.
Flora:
Despite the introduction of cultivation there are large areas of indigenous flora in this range of hills which is an extension of the Suikerbosrand.

Die Opstal:
Die Opstal is not a secluded house like our other houses. Die Opstal is 500m away from the main farmhouse. You will see the cattle, a few horses and geese. A real farm experience!

Lecture room – seating 20 persons.
Guests at Die Opstal can also do the Klipkraal Hiking Trails or you are welcome to drive with your own vehicle in our game camp.
