Evening Turtle Eco trail

Approximately 9 km easy guided hike along the beach.

(All guide fees and permits are included)

After sundowners, sunset, and an early dinner at camp, we head down to the turtle sanctuary beach at Bhanga nek, to enjoy an evening of hiking (approx. 9km return) along the turtle sanctuary beaches in the moonlight, to witness either the adult Turtles nesting, or the hatchlings making their first journey into the ocean, both are truly unforgettable experiences to cherish.

The turtle sanctuary beaches are the nesting site for the endangered giant Leatherback turtles,

as well as Loggerhead turtles, and also Green turtles can be spotted in the shallows.

Day 1

Day 2

Highlight of the day: The Snorkeling eco trail

After a full breakfast served at the camp overlooking the lake.

The Snorkeling Eco trail – takes you hiking over the coastal dunes, then descending to the northern beaches to enjoy snorkelling in crystal clear ocean tidal pools, and then a hike back to camp along the pristine turtle sanctuary beaches.  Sundowners, sunset, followed by a delicious dinner prepared on open fires.

Day 3

Highlight of the day: The Raffia palm forest eco trail & Evening Turtle trail.

After a full breakfast served at the camp overlooking the lake

The Raffia Palm Forest eco trail – takes you hiking along the banks of the lake and along hidden pathways, to experience the wonder of the unique Raffia palm forest, spot the rare palm nut vulture… and experience traditional raffia palm kayaking before returning to the camp for an early dinner.

Sundowners, sunset, followed by our Evening seasonal Turtle eco trail.

Hiking in the moonlight along the sanctuary beaches to witness either the adult turtles nesting or the hatchlings making their first journey into the ocean both are truly unforgettable experiences.

Day 4

Highlight of the day: The Tsonga FishKraals eco trail.

After a full breakfast served at the camp overlooking the lake

The Tsonga FishKraals eco trail begins with a boat trip across the lake, through the interlinking channels, to the FishKraals.

An interactive experience of tradition and culture, followed by a hike up to the beautiful village of eNkovukeni, to enjoy a traditional lunch, served with warm hospitality and spectacular views overlooking the lake system below followed by a boat trip back across the lakes to the camp to enjoy.

Sundowners, sunset, followed by a last delicious dinner prepared on open fires.

Day 5

10h00 – Check out

After breakfast served as usual, overlooking the lake depart with unforgettable memories of this unique experience.

What to bring with you:

• Big hat or peak
• Sunblock and swimming costume.
• Light Rucksack (Day Pack)
• 2 or 3 refillable Water Bottles.
• Light weight all weather shirts and sarongs.
• Rain Jacket or parka to fit in your rucksack (waterproof)
• Hiking boots or good walking shoes, and slops.
• Hiking sticks are helpful and a personal choice.
• Camera / Torch / Charger and adapter.
• Medication for personal use / Toiletries and mosquito repellent.
• Warm Clothes for chilly evenings.
• Alcoholic beverages of your choice.
• Snacks for your hikes.

Kosi Lakeside Private Camp

Base camp for the duration of your stay ideally located on the banks of the lake, at Bhanga nek beach, Reeded rondavels and Sahara tents are nestled into the coastal forest, surrounded only by an abundance of bird life and nature at its best, creating an exclusive retreat experience.

All combined with delicious meals prepared on open fires, served in the luxury of nature.
