Ribbokkloof Lodge is a unique holiday farm situated in Mpumalanga, offering an unforgettable holiday experience. With its breathtaking natural setting, the lodge is a piece of African Paradise, yet conveniently located just 2 hours’ drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Apart from providing the perfect break away from civilisation and an ideal family holiday spot, Ribbokkloof also offers a unique Farm Wedding Venue the Sugar Bean @ Ribbokkloof for an authentic, vintage Farm wedding.
Ribbokkloof combines the best of rustic charm and old-fashioned farmhouse hospitality with absolute comfort, with a choice of B&B chalets, self-catering chalets or camping site accommodation. Our chalets are privately positioned in the kloof, where the gentle murmuring of a mountain stream and rock pools will lull you to sleep every night. Or, for the more adventurous, camping under the stars is the perfect way to enjoy being close to nature.
Ribbokkloof forms part of a series of Gelykwater Bonsmara Cattle Farms, so every morning guests wake up to the sound of the cattle walking down the kloof path to drink from the stream near the chalets, while the calves play in their crèche. In addition, Ribbokkloof’s beautiful horses will enthral all visitors, young and old alike.

Ribbokkloof Lodge offers exciting an exciting guided or self-driven 4×4 experience (maps are available at reception) for those guests in search of a little adventure.
The Ribbokkloof 4×4 trail is graded level 2 to 4 and includes a 3km riverbed obstacle course and a 27km scenic route through Highveld vegetation. If you’re lucky, you may spot one of our shy Mountain Reedbuck or even a family of Warthog out for a stroll! Our trail provides enough variation to provide an enjoyment for novices, and an exhilarating challenge for experienced drivers alike; and has been designed to ensure no damage to your vehicle. (Note: 4×4 low range gear ratio is essential.)

Quad biking:
Choose your terrain and have a blast with your quad bike on our mountain bike trail or 4×4 trail… or simply bundu bash your way along Ribbokkloof’s 1 100ha of off road farm road and single tracks.

You Need To Bring:
Own, towels, dishcloths, dish washing soap, toilet paper, torch, binoculars, and insect repellents. Camp chairs are nice to have and if you need something, Ribbokkloof is more than willing to help.
Mountain biking:
Ribbokkloof has 2 designated mountain bike trails: a 20km Black trail and a 10km Red trail… as well as 1 100ha of off-road farm road or single tracks for the brave at heart.
Swimming:
Swimming has never been so wild! Our sparkling pool is set right in the midst of nature, overlooking rolling hills and untouched natural vegetation. For our guests’ comfort, there is a thatch lapa as well as picnic tables located right by the pool.
And if you really want to have some splashing fun in the sun, nothing beats swimming in our dam or paddling in the mountain stream!
Fishing:
Ribbokkloof’s dam is well stocked with plenty of Bass to keep fishing enthusiasts happy. Guests are welcome to fish from the bank, or bring their electric bass boats, float coops, canoes or fishing kayaks; spend some quality time on the water, and maybe even reel in that ‘dream fish’.
Guests should please note that while the dam also holds some Carp as well as Bass, it is not truly Carp fishing friendly as you cannot drive all the way round the dam.
Bird watching:
Bring your binoculars and bird books and come and lose yourself in the sounds and sights of nature. Ribbokkloof boasts over 180 species of birds, and the list is constantly growing as our guests encounter new specimens with every visit.

Accommodation:
Our accommodation consists of self-catering chalets and camping. Ideal for quiet getaway, couples, family holidays, a weekend away with friends or larger groups. In a comfortable, charmingly rustic surrounds, and with an indoor braai area, you’re sure to enjoy a wonderful weekend regardless of the weather. And camping sites If you’re really want to get down and dirty with Mother Nature, then book a stand in our riverbed campsite… and experience the blissful tranquility of sleeping under the Ribbokkloof stars! In addition, all accommodation can be easily accessed by car (and not only 4×4 vehicles).
Self-Catering Chalet Accommodation
Ribbokkloof Lodge offers stunning thatched chalet accommodation designed with privacy and comfort in mind. All the chalets are freestanding and located far apart from each other to provide our guests with a real chance to ‘get away from it all’. In addition, chalet guests staying for the weekend can enjoy our super 4×4 trails free! All chalets offer fully equipped kitchens with cutlery and crockery, cooking utensils, a gas stove and fridge with freezer as well as a private braai area.
Our chalet accommodation consists of:
3x 2 bed chalets,
1x 6 bed chalet,

2x double storey 12 bed chalets
Blinkbaar Chalet:
Self-catering chalet sleeps 12 people, 3 bedrooms, with Double bed and 2 single beds and 2 bathrooms (toilet, basin and shower). With 12v solar power, flatscreen TV & DSTV, a fully equipped kitchen, an entertainment area including an indoor braai.
Aalwyn Chalet:
Self-catering chalet sleeps 6 people, 1 Double Bedroom, 1 Bedroom with 2 Bunk-beds (4 Single Beds) and bathroom (toilet, basin and shower). With a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor private braai.
Wilger Chalet:
Self-catering chalet sleeps 8 people, 2 Bedrooms with Double bed and Bunk-bed (2 single beds) and a bathroom (toilet, basin and shower). With 12v solar power, flatscreen TV & DSTV, a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor private braai.
Stinkhout Chalet:
Self-catering chalet sleeps 12 people, 3 bedrooms, with Double bed and 2 single beds and 1 bathrooms (toilet, basin and shower). With a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor private braai.
Kiepersol / Lemoendoring
Self-catering chalet sleeps 2 people, and includes 1 double bedroom and bathrooms (toilet, basin and shower). With a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor private braai (Kiepersol situated next to pool).
Hiker’s/Campers Accommodation
Stinkhout Chalets:
12 Bed: 3 bed room. Each with 1 double bed and 2 single beds, 1 bathroom.
Riverbed Camp Site:
Showers, toilette, donkey for hot water and outdoor braai facilities.
4X4 Caravan / Tent Stands:
Showers, toilette- no hot water or electricity. Outdoor braai facilities. You can camp next to the dam, but: No Facilities, you need to use Riverbed Camp’s se ablution. Lighting supplied from a car battery. Max 30 people total camping, max 4 adults per site

Hiking:
If you are longing to find that perfect close-to-nature spot, then Ribbokkloof’s hiking trails are just right for you. Our trails are all Green Flag accredited, meandering beside the mountain streams and rapids in an area rich with flora and fauna.
There are 2 circular routes 8.5 km and 6.5 respectively. Hikers can either stay at Stinkhout chalet @ R350.00 pp per night, where the white trail starts (8.5 km). Or you can camp in own tents where the yellow trail starts (6.5 km) The two circular routes can be combined as an overnight route. Leaving Stinkhout chalet with an overnight stop at our camping site (own tents) or sleep in our rustic overnight hiking facility at the camping site, and do the yellow trail the next day. We only provide sleeping mats (no mattresses) if you make use of our rustic overnight facility.
The trails can be classed as easy to moderate and suitable for the whole family and those who are first time or novice hikers. The trails are well marked and laid out and accredited by The Hiking Organisation of Southern Africa.
The Trail provide breath-taking views over Roodekop area. Variety of fauna and flora. Clear fountain streams and waterfalls. Natural/pristine environment.
Please note, visitors should bring all food for the weekend, no shop available on the farm.
