About the Hike
Our passion for what we can offer our guests, families and friendship groups has led to this true hiking holiday. A guided and catered walk means all you need to do is select a date, arrive and truly appreciate this dramatic and diverse hiking experience, while overnighting in completely off the grid, well-appointed comfortable accommodation with a retreat experience in a very unique setting.

Itinerary:
Friday – Arrival Day:
Meet and greet. Dinner is a fireside preparation at Sunset. Maanskyn Baai is part of a bird sanctuary hosting a vast diversity of bird species.
Saturday – Day 1: 14km
Beach walk After breakfast guests are driven to the Whale-watching haven in De Kelders where the walk starts from the Klipgat Caves, accessible via a boardwalk and a small amount of rock-hopping takes you on a journey through the cultural significance of the Cave which the Khoisan inhabited 2000 years ago. The trail with spectacular views of the unspoiled Walker Bay coastline stretching to Hermanus in the distance includes vegetated dunes, strandveld and striking limestone outcrops.
Sunday – Day 2: 6km
After a leisurely breakfast, guests have two options to choose from: One option would be to cross the lagoon mouth, when the lagoon mouth is closed. Then to walk to grotto beach and explore the milkwood forests. Option two is when the lagoon mouth is open you cannot cross the lagoon, there will be a different path along the beach going along the lagoon edge, fynbos & milkwood forest. A lunch and beverage to reflect on the journey before heading home. This nature reserve is rich in marine life so look out for whales and dolphins.

Best time for this hike:
This hike can only be booked over a weekend and September to May is the best time.
Extra info:
Please bring swimsuit & swim towel for lagoon swimming/hot tub It is a Mediterranean climate zone and be sure to bring sun lotion, protective personal wear and backpacks.
Getting there:
There is a 10km dirt road from Stanford to the property. It can be reached by any car. When it rains the road is worse, a 4×4 is always a good car for dirt roads but not a necessity. We can arrange for collection in Stanford. We don’t provide airport transfers but there is a few companies that do provide in our area and town. Time of travel is approximately 2h 20 minutes and costs around R800.00.
Fitness:
Everything is one level, there are a few bigger rocks at a point, depending on high or low tide (could be slippery) It’s sandy terrain which makes it a bit more difficult at times, but fairly easy, must be walking fit.

Lagoon Accommodation:
2 nights at an exclusive guesthouse. All rooms en-suite 4 rooms with queen-sized beds 1 bedroom have 2 single beds. White bedding and towels provided.
