About The Hike
Discover the rich culture and stunning landscape of the Nyae Nyae Bushman Hiking Safari. The 4-day, fully catered 95km adventure takes place you through the heart of Bushman land and the Nyae Nyae Pans.

Hiking Itinerary
Pre-Hike Arrival and Briefing at Tsumkwe Country Lodge
Arrive in the late afternoon and settle into tented accommodation at Tsumkwe Country Lodge, A hike briefing will be held before a hearty dinner. Drinking water is provided for the entire hike, while beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks are available for purchase. The evening offers a chance to relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 1: Tsumkwe to Makuri Community Campsite ±23km
The hike begins through the Naya Naye Conservancy, a landscape rich in ancient Baobabs and vast, open plains. A brunch stop await near a massive Baobab tree, offering a moment to refuel and take in the surrounds. The day ends at Makuri Community Campsite, where hikers can enjoy warm showers, comfortable tents, and a delicious dinner under the stars. A foot spa welcomes weary feet at the end of the day.
Day 2: Wild Camp at /Aotcha Pan ±24km
The trail continues deeper into the Kalahari wilderness, passing through diverse terrain. A brunch stop along the way allows for a well-earned break and refreshments. The night is spent at a wild camp beneath a massive Baobab tree at /Aotcha Pan. This removes setting provides a true wilderness experience, with a fully se-up camp, showers, toilets, and a communal dining area.
Day 3: From /Aotcha Pan to Nyae Nyae Pan ±19km
This leg of the journey takes hikers past ancient Baobabs and unique landscapes. A brunch stop under the shade of one of these towering trees offers a perfect pause. The afternoon’s hike passes the Hippo Pools, a fascinating feature in the Nyae Nyae region. The night is spent vamping next to the Nyae Nyae Pan, where the stillness of the open land and a delicious meal mark the perfect end to the day.
Day 4: Final Stretch to Tsumkwe ±16km
The last day’s hike brings hikers back to Tsumkwe Country Lodge, with a brunch stop en route. After arriving, a refreshing swim in the lodge pool awaits, offering a much-needed cool-down. The adventure concludes with a visit to the oldest Baobab in the region. The final night is spent at Tsumkwe Country Lodge, with a celebratory dinner under the stars.
Departures & Transfers
After breakfast, guests are transferred to their respective transport points, bringing an unforgettable 4-day Nyae Nyae hiking adventure to a close.
