The Kunene Camino

Kunene Coast, Namibia

This is an 11-day Camino with travel to the start point on the 20th of May 2022. 9 days of walking and back on the 30th of May 2022. We will walk from below Ruacana Falls to Epupa Falls. 150km. This is a mobile camping Camino.

There will be some formal camp sites but also a lot of wild camping next to the river.

The backup team will take care of all camp duties. So, you do not need to put up or take down your tent, do any cooking or any camp chores. You carry only your day bag.

We cater for Herbivores and Carnivores and our food is made with love.

If you are looking for a mixture of culture, hiking, wilderness, and goodwill, this Camino is for you. You will meet the OvaHimba people along our route and we will be giving out much needed basic supplies: maize meal, oil, sugar, and other essentials.

Itinerary

It will be 9 days of walking made up of the following distances.

Day 1: 14.7km
Day 2: 19.7km
Day 3: 15km
Day 4: 15.5km
Day 5: 19.3km
Day 6: 17km
Day 7: 15km
Day 8: 16km
Day 9: 16km

We include the transport from Windhoek to Ruacana and from Epupa Falls to Windhoek.

We have a fully functioning mobile camp and three staff to take care of everything.

You will stay in dome tents.

Each 2,1m x 2, 1m x 2,1m dome tent is equipped with two stretchers, mattresses, and sheet covers that you keep for the duration of the Camino. Please feel free to bring your own bedding or ask me and I will supply you with a sleeping bag and pillow.

We will erect a canvas cubicle for shower hour and the same for our toilet. You will have total privacy.

Bring something nice for sundowners. There will be a very dark sky, so we have dinner under the stars. Our food is made with love.
