About The Hike
Discover the magic of Damaraland with our Sorris Sorris Hiking Safari. Trek through stunning landscapes and encounter majestic desert-adapted elephants.
This 4-day fully catered, slackpacking hiking trail in the Sorris Sorris conservancy of 80km, takes hikers to the Brandberg area and Ugab River.

Hiking Itinerary
Arrival and Briefing
Guests will arrive at Madisa Camp from 14h00 onwards. Accommodation for the first night is provided. Beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks are not included and will be for hiker’s own account. Drinking water will be provided to hikers for the duration of the hike. Vehicle will be parked in an area allocated by Madisa and will remain here for the duration of the hike.
Day 1 and 2: Into the Wilderness| ±20 km per day
The adventure begins as hikers set off on a 20 km trek on both days, through rugged terrain, dry riverbeds, and towering rock formations. A brunch stop en route provides a chance to refuel and soak in the surroundings. Evenings are spent at scenic wild camps, with comfortable tents, warm showers, and delicious meals enjoyed under the stars. A foot spa awaits weary hikers at the end of each day, offering relaxation after the day’s journey.
Day 3: Trekking Along the Ugab River | ±15 km
After a refreshing breakfast, hikers set off along the Ugab River, following ancient elephant trails and breathtaking desert scenery. A brunch stop provides a well-earned break before continuing towards Sorris Sorris / Anixab. The day’s journey ends at a wild camp nestled between koppies in the Ugab River, where a fully equipped camp with showers, toilets, and a comfortable dining area awaits. The evening is spent unwinding under a canopy of stars, with a delicious dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 4: Final Stretch & Return to Madisa Camp | ±15km
The final day follows the winding course of the Ugab River, offering stunning views and the chance to spot wildlife along the way. A brunch stop provides a chance to relax before completing the hike. Hikers are then transported back to Madisa Camp, where their vehicles await. The last night is spent at Madisa Camp, where a celebratory dinner marks the end of an unforgettable hiking journey.
Departure & Transfers
After breakfast, guests are transferred to their respective transport points, bringing a remarkable Four-Day Ugab River Hiking Adventure to a close.

- Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Basic drinks (soft drinks, ciders, beers, gin, whiskey and wine) the is an honesty bar and can be settled with cash at the end of the trip.
