Pertinent Information:

• Please bring: Food, Drinks, Hiking Shoes, Mountain Bikes, Mosquito Repellent, Torch, Sunscreen, Hat, Binoculars, Birding books, own towels for swimming, a warm jacket as nights may be cool.
• Wood and charcoal: 1 bag of each are provided
• Extra wood for sale: R20 per bag and Charcoal, R40 per 4 kg bag, Blitz @ R15.00/packet. Please arrange in advance,
• No smoking inside the buildings.
• No pets or fishing are allowed
• No Quad bikes or Motorbikes
• The Rietfontein farm operates as a beef and sheep farm.
• Gravel road to farm in good condition
• Walk on the Klipkraal hiking trail or bring mountain bikes to cycle on farm roads. Hiking, self-guided, maps provided
• Game: Springbok, Blesbok, duiker and jackal.
• Birds: bird list available (more than 100 species)
• Trees and shrubs are marked
• Canoe’s available for rowing on the farm

Die Opstal

Die Opstal is an old farmhouse with 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace for the cold winter evenings, and a nice cozy gathering kitchen. In the kitchen, there is a refrigerator, stove, and a microwave. 4 bedrooms are part of the house, and 2 bedrooms are outside rooms. There are barbecue facilities on the porch, as well as an open lapa to make a nice big campfire. The Farmhouse has electricity.

Die Opstal is not secluded in the veld like our other cottages. Die Opstal is about 800m from the main farmhouse. The geese that graze near the Homestead provide a unique farm experience!

We do not allow motorcycles or quad bikes.
