‘Milorho’ is the traditional Tsonga word for ‘dreams’ or ‘dreamer’. If you love the peace and tranquillity of nature and mountainous areas then you are indeed in for a treat as a nature lover, and our “place of dreams” is definitely for you.

Milorho Lodge is nestled comfortably on the northern slopes of the Magaliesburg mountains, which happens to be the second oldest mountain range in the world. Our pristine and tranquil reserve is home to a large endemic flora system, bursting with a beautiful array of bird and wildlife.

Soul food for birders, botanists, hikers and nature lovers. If you need to relax, de-stress, or find your soul again then this is the place to do it. To ensure this, we don’t allow music nor radios that could possibly ruin this for you. Our right of admission policy controls the environment, you so need, to enjoy yourself.
We offer over 600 hectares of vast beautiful kloofs and awe-inspiring rock pools for you to experience the freedom of nature through comfortable walks or exciting trails.

Milorho Lodge has 5 stunning cottages to choose from, that received a 4 star rating from the Tourism Grading Council.

Boekenhout Cottage:

Boekenhout cottage is built from stone, and it includes a king-size bedroom, an open plan kitchen and lounge with fireplace, a private patio and braai area.
Linen and towels are changed with a free service after four consecutive nights. Servicing must be booked in advance through our office.
As many of our guests prefer complete privacy and do not want staff ‘invading’ them, servicing is offered as an optional extra.

Witstinkhout Cottage

Witstinkhout cottage is built from stone and has a queen-size bedroom and bathroom, an open plan kitchen and lounge with a fireplace, a private patio and braai area.

Linen and towels are changed with a free service after four consecutive nights. Servicing must be booked in advance through our office.

As many of our guests prefer complete privacy and do not want staff ‘invading’ them, servicing is offered as an optional extra.

Kiaat Cottage

Kiaat cottage is built from stone, and it includes a queen-size bedroom, an open plan kitchen and lounge, with a private patio and braai area.

Wild Olive Cottage:

Wild Olive (Family) cottage is a larger unit built from stone that sleeps up to six, It includes a main bedroom downstairs with a queen-size bed and separate bathroom. an open plan kitchen (which includes a breakfast nook) and lounge with fireplace, a private patio and braai area.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms each with 2 x 3/4 beds and a bathroom. Wild Olive has an inter-leading door with Red Ivory for larger groups of people.

Red Ivory Cottage

Red Ivory cottage is a larger unit built from stone. It has a main bedroom downstairs with a queen-size bed and bathroom. It has an open plan kitchen and lounge with a fireplace for colder winter nights. Red Ivory has an inter-leading door with Wild Olive for bigger groups of people.

Linen and towels are changed with a free service after four consecutive nights. Servicing must be booked in advance through our office.

Camping:

Milorho Lodge Campsite offers a great camping experience for young and old. We currently have 12 sites that are +/- 12m x 10m grassed stands.
Campers have access to communal ablution facilities located next to camping site. The facilities contain toilets, showers as well as baths (Female bathroom) all with hot water.

There is a scullery area for food prep and washing up. Furthermore, each site has an electric outlet with multiplug points, a light and a tap for water.
Each site has a private fixed Braai Place with food prep area. There is also a BOMA area with multiple braai’s for larger groups (Please note that wood or charcoal will not be provided). We also have a swimming pool next to the BOMA for guests to use.

Camping at Milorho Lodge offers one the opportunity to engage in several outdoor and recreational activities. This includes swimming in the natural rock pools found on the farm, hiking one or all of our Green Flag hiking trails, and being one with nature.

Hiking Trails

Milorho has 2 beautiful hiking trails which has been designed by Master Trail developer Gerhardt van Greunen. It has a 5km and a 13km

Brown Trail – 5km

The 5km trail is a treat for anyone. The trail is easy and takes about 2 – 3 hours.
The ample beautiful rock pools and streams is sure a highlight on this trail. The trail is suitable for beginners and kids.

Green Trail – 13km

The 13km is a moderate hike with one or two koppies and gorges to climb, the highest point on the trail is 1680m and rewards you with stunning views of the Magaliesburg. The rock formations on the trail is something quite extraordinaire and be on the lookout for the rock that slightly overhangs on top of another rock, it looks like it has been perfectly placed there for your enjoyment. Roughly 1km before you finish the trail, you are rewarded with a rock pool to cool down in and spend enough time there as you don’t have far to walk before you finish the trail.
