Dive into the Tulbagh Wine Walk Experience. Get ready for an exhilarating four-day journey through the stunning Tulbagh Valley, complete with three or four serene nights at Oudekloof Wine Estate where you will stay for the duration of the walk. Feast on delectable breakfasts, lunches, and three-course dinners perfectly paired with exquisite wines. Along your journey, you will explore diverse estates, partake in thrilling activities and enjoy the company of a guide taking you through the beautiful countryside.

On this epic four-day wine adventure you will go on a journey walking between 8 to 13 kilometers per day on gravel paths exploring some of the country’s finest wine estates, national monuments and hidden gems of the Tulbagh valley with the towering peaks of three mountain ranges as your backdrop. Oudekloof Wine Estate serves as your base, starting and ending point for each day’s adventure. Enjoy a breakfast buffet and savour delicious three-course dinners at Oudekloof Wine Estate. Lunches are served at picturesque venues along the route while exploring the valley.

Wine Walk Routes

Oakhurst Walk +/- 13 km

Starting with an olive tasting at Oakhurst Olive Farm from where you will walk to Theuniskraal Wine Estate. From there a few kilometers further will take you to a world dating back to 1806 as you wonder through the antique interior of De Oude Drostdy Manor. Marvel at the beauty of authentic Cape Dutch furniture before descending a staircase to the historic jail. Just a stone throws away your path will cross Tulbagh Winery whereafter you will enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you walk you last few kilometers for the day. Return to Oudekloof Wine Estate by bus.

Forgotten Highway Walk +/- 13 km

Along the way to your fist wine estate for the day, you might spot a new-born Damara sheep or a world class Limousine calf. We will be following the scenic path along the Obiqua mountains visiting Twee Jonge Gezellen Estate / Krone, and Saronsberg Wine Estate. Return to Oudekloof Wine Estate by bus. End the day with a spectacular Tulbagh Tractor ride and enjoy wine and a picnic on top of the mountain while staring out over the Tulbagh Valley.

A walk down Memory Lane +/- 8 to 10 km

Along the walk we will visit Montpellier de Tulbagh, Rijk’s Wine Estate and / or Manley Wine Estate. Continue with your walk to town where you will step back intime as you embark on a leisurely stroll down Church Street, the historic heart of Tulbagh. This charming avenue, lined with beautifully restored Cape Dutch, Edwardian, and Victorian buildings, offers a glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of the area. Walking down Church Street is like stepping into a living museum, where each building, shop, and corner holds a story waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a lover of architecture, or simply someone who enjoys a leisurely walk-through beautiful surroundings, Church Street in Tulbagh promises an enriching and delightful experience. After enjoying a delicious lunch, you will return to Oudekloof Wine Estate by bus, content and enriched by the day’s experiences.
