B’sorah Tented Camp and Hiking Trails

Hartbeespoort Dam, Broederstroom

Situated near the majestic Magaliesberg Mountains and the historical Hartbeespoort Dam, B’sorah is less than an hour away from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Despite being so close, you will find yourself surrounded by breath-taking views and the diverse natural surroundings of our family-run farm.

B’sorah is home to a self-catering safari tented camp and scenic trails. Our eco-friendly retreat is nestled within 1600 hectares of pristine wilderness and rugged cattle country, which offers guests plenty to explore by foot, mountain bike or self-drive.

Swim in one of the cleanest natural rivers in South Africa, roam the hills once fought for during the Boer War, or enjoy the sunset from one of the many rocky outcrops. B’sorah will leave you feeling alive and appreciating the finer things in life. Afterwards, you can sit back and listen to the francolins’ call at sunset, the perfect accompaniment to your evening barbecue.

For guests interested in experiencing the sights and sounds that the area has to offer, the Hartbeespoort Dam with its many shops and attractions are all nearby.

Whether you love the outdoors or simply need some much-needed rest and peace, B’sorah is the place for you, and our friendly staff looks forward to giving you a warm welcome and making your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Since 1865, many parts of the Hartbeeshoek area, south of the Hartbeespoort Dam, has been owned by various relatives of Commandant Andries Pretorius. Years later, his grandson Colonel Nicolaas Pretorius bought various portions and by 1924 amalgamated the portions into one farm. Colonel Pretorius served many years as a member of Parliament in Cape Town, whilst his wife took care of the farm. Today, his descendants still own and farm on this property known as B’sorah, which means “The Good News”.

With our faith in God and a heart to serve, that is exactly what we strive to offer to others at B’sorah – that bit of good news which we are all looking for in life. Whether it is to retreat to your own small corner of peace where you can reflect and find direction, a fun-filled experience with your family making memories, or if you are in search of a deeper relationship with God and the meaning of His Word, we are passionate in bringing truth and pure joy through the peace that there is to find at B’sorah.

Today, as a family who share a love for people, animals and the outdoors, we would love to welcome you to a farm full of history, beautiful scenery and wildlife, majestic sunsets and the opportunity to reacquaint with the finer things in life that matter the most.

Please note all dogs, strictly on leash!!

Rivers, forests, grassland, bushveld and rocky outcrops can all be enjoyed at B’sorah whilst hiking or running, and for mountain bikers, we have exciting yet challenging trails which will test your skills and provide plenty of excitement.

We also have a small shop that sells refreshments, snacks, medic kits, etc., as well as a cafe (open Sundays) which sells delicious food and drinks. If you would prefer to bring your own lunch or snacks, there are beautiful picnic areas along the trail where you can enjoy it, or you can make use of the seating area at the cafe.

Day-visitors must park in the designated day-visitor parking area next to reception and pay and register at the shop. The trails start and finish at the shop.

We allow dogs on the hiking trails, but strictly on leashes only. Dogs are not allowed to roam freely on the premises.
