The guest farm is a working farm, within the IMLA Farm Group, on land which is part of Marabeng Mountain, according to the Sesotho-speaking locals. A grand sandstone house, dating from the late 1800s, has been beautifully restored and expanded to a modern guest house.

Rooms have all been uniquely finished. Various accommodation options are available for single guests, couples, families, and groups. Dinner, bed and breakfast or self-catering, the latter available in one unit. Our en suite rooms boast fireplaces for red or glühwein winter’s evenings.

Use IMLA Guest Farm as the ideal base from which to explore endless Eastern Free State landscapes. We offer 2 x 4 & 4 x 4 trails, mountain biking, hiking & horseback rides, fishing, and swimming in the dam. Drink it all in from the Boma under the Waterfall Oak Tree.

Early morning veld freshness, birdsong, relaxing and active days, ending in unforgettable gatherings around the fire, under sandstone starry night skies.

Trail Options:

Trail 1:

Starts from the guesthouse and circles around and over Marabeng and is a 6km or 10km in distance.  It can however be combined to change to a 16km.  The 16km trail has a difficult grading of 7 and takes about 5 hours to finish.  The trail ends again at the guesthouse, where there is also camping sites available.  Beginner hikers and more easy hiking hikers are more than welcome to hike the shorter trails.

Trail 2:

This trail also starts at the guesthouse and goes over Marabeng to Kirklington.  The route circles around Kirklington and back home to the guesthouse.  This is a 30km trail and has a difficulty grading of 5.

Route 3:

Once again, the trail starts from the guesthouse and goes along plains to the Goewerneurskop where Bushman paintain can be appreciated.  The trail ends at a lovely swimming pool where a vehicle is waiting to transport guests back.  This trail is 20km.

The view on the trails is breathtakingly and in the stunning “klowe” the pool in the rainy season is cold and refreshing, a lovely place to cool down during a hike

The Rock Dassie can be linked with room 1 (Mountain View) for a family or used as a stand-alone unit for a couple. The Rock Dassie has a queen size bed with crisp white cotton linen, that can be separated into 2 alone standing beds.  A separate bathroom (not en-suite) with a bath, shower, and toilet. There are 2 locations at IMLA in the mountains where ancient Bushman rock paintings can be viewed.

This room is a favorite among our guests. The Boer & Brit is the stoep-room separate from the house.

Imla is the perfect combination with the BOER being the Groenewald family currently farming this area and the BRIT, the Radloff family who built this spectacular farmhouse. This forms part of the rich history of IMLA.

THE SQUIRREL COTTAGE is a beautiful grass thatched roof cottage big enough for a family. It has 3 rooms, 2 with kingsize beds and a room with 3 single beds all with crisp white cotton linen. Furthermore, it boasts a dining table, lounge area with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with a shower and a bath.  The balcony overlooks the beautiful IMLA agricultural fields and you will also be able to spot a squirrel or two while enjoying a glass of wine with sunset.  This apartment is 105 m2 and the perfect weekend get-away for the adventure seeking family! You always have the option to have dinner, breakfast, and lunch from our kitchen if self-catering is not what you were looking for.

Caravan Park

Imla Guest Farm boasts 6 Caravan stands with power points, clean fountain water & a mountain view. We have an ablution facility with showers and toilets, but also added a bath for the ladies.

Campsite

Imla Guest Farm boasts a camp site at the foot of the Marabeng mountain, overlooking the Waterfall farm. The campsite has twenty tents available to guests who does not have their own. It features an ablution facility with showers and toilets and a bath for the ladies. Hot water and electricity points is also featured at the camp site.
Guests have access to MTB trails, Hiking, Fishing, 4X4 & 2X4 Trails, horse riding and lots more. Farming activities can be observed as the season presents it, and farm tours can also be arranged.

Backpackers
