Lindani is meant for hiking
Lindani is meant for hiking. The topography offers the hiker a wide range of visual and physical experiences – vistas, mountains, valleys, perennial streams, kloofs, towering sandstone cliffs, open savannah bushveld, lichen covered rock formations and a variety of large bushveld trees. The ascents and descents are enough to stretch the legs without being intimidating. Trails are kept clear to acceptable standards and are well marked. A map with contours and profiles is provided.
There are four circular trails enabling hikers to return to their accommodation. For those who want to walk longer distances, the trails are linked in a manner that makes this possible.
Melkrivier Trail – 11.2kms.
Closest lodges – Motseng and Loft. This trail has two fairly steep ascents (160m and 80m), a steep descent, a long gradual descent and stretches of level walking through savannah bushveld and alongside the Melkrivier which runs perennially and has some large pools.
Mountain Trail – 10.1kms.
Closest lodges – Bush Camp and Maroela Camp. Probably the most varied of the four trails, the Mountain Trail circles the ridge of mountains that run from north to south through Lindani. It offers wonderful views of the Waterberg especially from the beacon at the highest point on the farm. While it has no permanent water, it makes up for this by passing through beautiful kloofs and under magnificent trees and coppices.
Koperspruit Trail – 7.6kms.
Closest Lodges – Loft, Stone House and Motseng. Follows the Koperspruit through a mini gorge, then heads across to the Melkrivier before climbing some 110m out of an amphitheatre and descending gradually through typical savannah bushveld to the start on the Koperspruit.
Kloof Trail – 7.3kms.
Closest Lodges – Stone House and Bush Camp. Shares the same stretch of the Koperspruit with the Koperspruit Trail before following a watercourse up a narrow kloof – an ascent of about 160m. It then returns to the Koperspruit across an open plain, along another watercourse and finally through a small ‘forest’.
While the trails are primarily intended for the benefit of guests staying at Lindani’s lodges, up to 12-day visitors per day can hike the trails by prior arrangement with the office. An indemnity form must be signed.
Lindani also offers special rates to hiking clubs that opt to bring a large group to stay at one of the bigger lodges.
