In the Heart of Mhlopeni Valley in Muden, Greytown, Kwa-Zulu Natal, your rustic African Adventure awaits. You will leave White Stones, a different person than when you arrived. Get ready to rejuvenate your mind, body & soul.
Mhlopeni is a certified Natural Heritage site, the certificate signed by Nelson Mandela himself. This is the place of nature conservation, the protection of indigenous flora and fauna, its river, and the unique ecosystem it supports.
The nature reserve is a pristine 808 ha of protected Wild Africa. Established in 1977, it has ancient historic artifacts and sites, some dating back 250 000 years ago.
As a haven for wildlife, it is home to game such as Kudu, Impala, Bush Buck, Zebra & Duiker. Bird life is abundant, with 230 recorded species on the bird list. It is home to reptiles, rodents like Porcupine, & Anteaters, and has a diverse insect species, among them are some of the most beautiful butterflies in Southern Africa.
Trails that are established by the game provide a hikers dream African experience, with easy open road walks to challenging hikes up the mountains.
Accommodation
Imphafa Bush Camp
This old hunters’ camp has been slightly modified to be female friendly
It has all the basics:
3 Bedrooms (7 single beds – linen provided)
2 Bathrooms (toilet, basin, shower – bring own towel)
Hot water (donkey boiler)
Functional kitchen with all necessary cutlery, crockery,
pots and pans.

No cell phone reception
No Eskom
Just you and friends enjoying the solitude.
Camping Site
Ideal for about 10 tents or 3 Tent trailers
The Camping Site is discreetly adjacent to the Bush Camp, allowing for groups or families to simultaneously use both facilities.
We only allow one booking at a time so you will never be swamped. On the Reserve will be just your party, and the Reserve staff.
Our longer hiking routes have not been serviced in many years. We are currently re-establishing and clearing them and will let you know when they become available.
Active Experiences
Gorgeous Hiking trails ranging from easy open paths and roads, to challenging hikes through game trails up to the tops of the mountains, along the river, to indigenous historic sites and up to gorgeous rock cliffs that you can get the best views from. The valley has so much to offer its explorers.
The Mhlopeni Waterfall & River
Featuring a gorgeous waterfall displaying the Mhlopeni river, sustaining life in Mhlopeni (Place of White Stones) Valley for Thousands of years. The bushveld has everything it needs so survive in this gem of a place, tucked away the 1325 Hectare reserve has Natural Heritage Status and is a protected Conservation Land.
Wildlife & Plant Life
Wildlife includes antelope: Impala, Kudu, Zebra, Bush Buck, Duiker, rodents: Porcupine, Anteaters to name a few, as well as prolific Bird Life. White Stones is home to fauna and flora of indigenous wild African bush.

Wood is supply for the donkey.
Limited wood for the fire pit and braai at the Bush Camp is supplied. Amount supplied varies to what deem reasonable consumption for the period of the stay.
Wood for sale available at a nominal rate.
7km reasonable condition dirt road which is accessible by normal clearance vehicles.
